ABC's Annual Family Reunion Picnic

ABC's Annual Family Reunion Picnic takes place each year in the fall at a Kansas City area park. Domestically, it provides an opportunity for families who have adopted and birthparents that have placed their child(ren) for adoption to nurture the relationship between the adoptive and birth families. For those families that have adopted internationally, it allows the families and children the opportunity to share their adoption experience and celebrate their children's culture. By spending time with so many other people touched by adoption, children see that their family is not so different after all.

We offer fun activities for everyone to enjoy. There are moonwalks and a caricature artist to provide entertainment and there is a playground next to the shelter for the children to play. ABC staff attends the picnic to offer support; we thoroughly enjoy seeing all the birthparents and adoptive families and love seeing the children grow! The picnic is anticipated by all and is well attended - we generally have over 300 people attend!
