Domestic Adoption

**ABC is actively seeking families open to adopting children of full or partial African American heritage. At this time, our domestic program is closed to new applicants except those open to a child of full or partial African American heritage.**

Domestic Infant Program

Our Domestic Infant Program includes all U.S. born children that could be full Caucasian, African American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American or any integration of the above. The applicant may specify preferences at the time of application.

Special Programs

ABC has designed Special Programs for those children for whom an adoptive home may be difficult to find due to a variety of circumstances (i.e. age, physical/mental/emotional disabilities, etc.). These programs offer possible modification of fees and acceptance requirements.

The following groups are included in our Special Programs:

1. Special Needs Infant Program - This program is defined to include a child with a known physical, mental or emotional disability.

2. Older Children - This program ma include older children if fee reduction is necessary to find permanent placement.

Pre-arranged/Targeted Adoptions

ABC is available to assist adopting couples, obstetricians, attorneys or others with the placement of a child in a pre-arranged circumstance. In these instances, a source other than ABC may find a birth parent who wishes to place with a particular adopting couple who may or may not be currently adopting through ABC. It may be necessary to involve ABC due to interstate or jurisdictional problems, as a way of maintaining a relationship with birth parents, or simply as a resource to provide birth parent services, counseling, home study and post-placement services.

"Self-Networked" Adoptions

For couples who wish to pursue their own "adoption networking" to locate an adoptable child, this program offers the use of our toll-free phone service (U.S. only) and twenty-four hour a day/seven day a week on-call availability to accept responses from potential birth parents or other sources. Mail and fax services are also available. This service may be used alone or in conjunction with other programs. Credit will be applied to placement fees in the event the pre-arranged/self-networked placement is facilitated through ABC. ABC will facilitate self-networked and pre-arranged adoption placements provided the adopting couple meet agency requirements.

Not sure where to start? ABC is committed to sharing adoption information to interested couples as they explore their options. Consultations are offered free-of-charge without obligation. Let us know if we can be of assistance.
