Services Provided by ABC Adoption
ORIENTATION MEETING to meet staff and begin the adoption journey. At this meeting we will explain our philosophies, procedures and the adoption process. We will discuss international Guatemalan requirements, documentation, and adoption procedures. We will discuss the home study process, review needed documentation prior to conducting the home study, and review the fee schedule.
GROUP/SUPPORT MEETINGS are designed to encourage and allow couples to share experiences, hear from other adoptive couples, share resources and support each other through the adoption process. Applicants may schedule meetings with staff members as needed throughout the process and post-placement. Applicants will be invited to attend adoption seminars and meetings offered throughout the year by ABC and other organizations.
SERVICES OUTLINED IN AGENCY FEES – This includes step-by-step guidance and preparation of your International Adoption Dossier, networking and child referral, frequent updates on the status of your case as it progresses through the Guatemalan court system, assistance with travel arrangements for finalization in Guatemala, and monthly medical updates from USCIS approved physicians.
ATTORNEY SERVICES – This includes private foster care for the child in a loving home receiving constant care and attention, arrangement of medical evaluations by USCIS approved physicians, coordination with Guatemalan courts to ensure prompt processing of your case, all court fees, all legal fees, arrangements of DNA testing of birth mother and child, presentation of case to Family Courts for adoption approval, new birth certificate, passport, and meeting at the American Embassy to finalize the adoption and assist with obtaining your child's VISA to return to the United States.
POST-FINALIZATION ADOPTION SERVICES- ABC will provide all necessary documents and reports required for delayed registration of birth and assist with the process of applying for a USA Passport. ABC will remain available to adoptive families to provide counseling, education and consultation on adoption issues throughout your adoption journey.
