Geographical position: Ivanovo is located in the interfluve plain of the Volga and the Kliazma rivers to the 318 km to the North-East from Moscow.

Historical facts: The first mention about the settlement dates back to the 1561. In 17th century Ivanovo was a large village producing and trading fabrics. In 18th century here appeared the first textile manufactories. By the mid-19th century the communities were agglomerated into the textiles production colony. In the early 20th century Ivanovo was a highly-industrialized city with numerous factories. Points of interest: Drama Theater, Musical Theater, puppets theater, circus. Museum of the nature and history of the region. Dormition cathedral (17th cent.).
Industry: Ivanovo is widely known by its textile industry. Today 12 factories produce cottons, silk and wool fabrics. Machine-building and automobile industry, chemical industry, food-processing, production of constructional materials.
